Our 2026 Warkworth Trade BBQ Breakfast
Tuesday 6 May started early at our Warkworth yard. The team was set up from 4:30am, the grill was on before sunrise, and by 6am the first customers were already rolling in.
By the time we wrapped up at 9am, we'd had 150+ people through the yard. Local contractors, civil crews, earthmoving operators, landscapers, suppliers, and trade professionals from across Warkworth and the wider region. Machines out on show, suppliers set up across the yard, burgers coming off the grill, and a coffee cart running flat out all morning.
The suppliers who showed up and made the day
A big part of what made this event tick was the suppliers who came out and got involved. We had nine on the day:
- Central Group
- TDX Ltd
- YRC New Zealand
- HF Hose Repair
- Norwood NZ
- Site Safety
- OMC Power Equipment
- Komatsu
- Guardian Civil
Good people, good conversations, and a chance for our customers to connect with the wider trade community in one place. That's the kind of thing that makes these mornings worth getting up early for.
The Pronto Stack Game
The competition drew a crowd.
Customers lined up to take on the Pronto Stack Game - using a 2.5T Yanmar mini excavator with a grab attachment to stack six tyres onto a cone as fast as possible. The clock started the moment the arm moved.
The winner? Tama from Dynamic Pipeworks. One minute, 26 seconds. Seven seconds clear of the field. He didn't come to try. He came to win.
Tama took home a Stoney Creek jacket and a box of goodies. Well earned.
The Lolly Guess
We filled a digger bucket with lolly packets and asked people to guess how many were in there. The winner was Chris Perona from BSG and BSG Civil. Chris had the closest guess on the day and walked away with a $100 prezzi card.
Good Food, Good People
The coffee cart was running from the moment the gates opened and it barely stopped. Burgers were fresh off the grill. The team were on the ground all morning making sure things ran smoothly.
The energy on the day was exactly what you'd want. Real conversations, familiar faces, and a few new ones too.
Todd Rochford from Rochford Landscapes put it well after the event:
"Big shoutout to Pronto Hire, Dale Stewart, and Bronson Flett for another awesome breakfast BBQ. Kelvin our Matakana Operations Manager went along with some of the team and couldn't speak highly enough of it. The whole Pronto team are there at 6am, meeting people, having a yarn, answering questions. They don't have to do any of it, but they do, and that says everything."
Thank You for Coming Out
To everyone who made the trip through on a Tuesday morning: appreciate you. 150+ people through the yard before 9am is not nothing, and it wouldn't happen without customers who actually want to show up.
These events exist because of the community around us, and this one was one of the best yet.
We'll see you at the next one.
Until then, if you need plant for a job across Auckland, Waikato, or Northland, the team is here.
